Eco-campaign in the Jalal-Abad region
On 27-29 September, as part of the World Tourism Day, the “Visit Jalal-Abad” project held eco-campaign throughout the Jalal-Abad region.
Under the moto of "We are for clean environment!" the project brought together active citizens of different ages and backgrounds. Together they cleaned up rubbish from such important tourist destinations in the region as the Sary-Chelek and Astanbap reserves, and the city of Jalal-Abad. During the three days of the campaign, over 90 participants took part in the campaign. On average, participants collected 12 bags of rubbish in each of the locations listed above.
Abdumalik Kozubayev, one of the active citizens, joined the campaign day in Arstanbap village and commented, "I liked this action very much. We collected a lot of rubbish today in just one hour. I would like to see such campaigns held regularly and attract even more people”. He also urged citizens to take care of the environment and not to litter.
The GIZ "Integrated Rural Development" project promotes the development of tourism potential of the Jalal-Abad region by developing the capacity of local tourism service providers, offering new tourism services and promoting the region as a tourist destination on international and national online and offline platforms. For these purposes, the project supports the Public Unions “Youth of Osh” and “Destination Osh” in establishing the “Visit Jalal-Abad” project. All measures are co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
