Seminar on Green Tourism in Jalal-Abad
On 11 November 2019, GIZ Integrated Rural Development Programme conducted a workshop on green tourism practices in Jalal-Abad for the owners of local guesthouses and touristic sites. The workshop aimed at raising awareness about saving energy and water resources in their businesses. The invited expert Ernist Jumagulov talked about using sensitive LED lamps, energy-efficient home appliances, and house insulation practices. He also highlighted the importance of decreasing the amount of plastic and waste by replacing and recycling room items and appliances. More than 40 owners of guesthouses and tourism sites from all over the Jalal-Abad region joined the workshop.*
The workshop was a part of the Green Economy Week 2019 "Green Economy – Strong Regions – Sustainable Development of the Country”, organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and UN agencies' initiative Partnership Action for Green Economy (PAGE). The event aimed at facilitating dialogues between all stakeholders in promoting the principles of green economy and demonstration of the benefits and opportunities from their use for the development of the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
